Enterprise Application Systems

The Enterprise Applications Systems Group provides end-user and internal technical support for the college’s administrative systems, including but not limited to Banner, Luminis Portal, Degree Works, Singularity, email, application integration, development, maintenance, and support.

The Administrative Computing unit develops, maintains, and supports administrative software systems in use at the College. Ellucian’s Banner product is used for student records, class scheduling, faculty load, financial aid, financials, human resources, payroll, research, and state reporting functions.  This team also acts as technical liaisons with end-users and vendor technical support staff for software applications in use at the College.  Programmers also design and develop add-ons and enhancements to Banner, interfaces to third-party software applications, and web-based applications for student and/or administrative use.  Staff members from this group also provide support for the development and deployment of the College’s Data Warehouse.

The Technical Writing/User Training unit assists in user system testing, Banner end-user support, and provides user training services. This group also handles first- and second-level Banner user support issues referred from the Help Desk.

The Systems Administration team supports the enterprise server operating system software installation and configuration, conducts performance analysis, assists in problem resolution, and monitors system and network performance. This group also administers user security for this system as well as being responsible for administration of the e-mail software server, network configuration and security or administrative systems.  This team is also responsible for system backup/recovery functions and assists in the implementation of interfaces with administrative databases and cross-system communications.

The Database Administration unit is responsible for the installation, maintenance, quality assurance of development and production databases to ensure that data integrity is maintained during new releases of both applications software and the underlying database management system.

Data Center Operations has several areas of responsibility: administrative systems end-user support, production scheduling and control, monitoring of Mt. SAC’s network resources and central computer data center operations. This group handles the day-to-day user requests for batch jobs that cannot be submitted online, handles test scoring and survey processing functions,  and administers administrative systems user security clearances.
