Charis Louie attended Pomona College then earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her professional interests include multicultural and gender identity. Prior to coming to Mt. SAC, she provided therapy at a state mental hospital, at the USC, and at the Claremont Colleges. At Mt. SAC, she has served as the Faculty Coordinator of the Mt. SAC Honors program, as well as taught Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Psychology Honors, Research Methods, Psychology of Women, Psychology for Effective living, Social Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. She is currently the Co-Chair of the Psychology Department. Her teaching style prioritizes student discussions and opportunities to apply concepts to real life situations. Favorite activities include baking, eating, and rearranging furniture.
